Book Review – Never Lie By Freida McFadden

BR – Never Lie By Freida McFadden

Welcome or welcome back to another post!
Today, I went through my collection of books and found a thrilling book that I wanted to share with you all. To start with – I just want to comment on the writing style. I’m a little familiar with this style, as I’m a good fan of the author, and I’ve read a few of her works. To briefly summarise the way of writing, the author uses a combination of two viewpoints (which I find very interesting). I have to warn you – in the beginning, however confusing or unrelated the idea may seem, they slowly come together to create a story masterpiece.
This book is somewhat special to me, as I started my journey into reading psychological thrillers from this book. As you can imagine, I struggled to understand the plot, considering I was about 10 (turning 11) then. When I finally neared the end of the book, I was sure I was addicted to thrillers.
Now, for context, let me give you a basic understanding of the plot. Remember that you may be confused, so I suggest reading this part a few times! (Just Kidding. not.). A girl, named Tricia and her husband, Ethan, are looking for a new house until they find a perfect one that looks like the house of their dreams. Dr. Adrienne Hale, a renowned psychiatrist (I had to google that word at the time 😀 ), was the house’s former resident and had disappeared a while back. The couple gets trapped in the house by a blizzard and waits for it to pass. In that period of boredom, Tricia decides to explore the house and accidentally stumbles upon a secret room found by pulling a book from a shelf. There, she finds tapes of Dr. Hale’s sessions with her patients. She starts listening to them uncovers the secret of her disappearance, and finds the answer to the question: “Who killed her?” (Or did they?).
Note: Seriously, read the book. The ending is somewhat silly, but it’s a fun pastime book. I’ve heard some other people say that the ending is not so great, but it’s a good start for a beginner. If you liked this book, be sure to read ‘The Housemaid series’ and ‘The Teacher’..
I want to thank you all for patiently reading this post, and I hope it encouraged you to read this book or even books in general.
Till next time, Smrithi.
